ORU keeps lead, Stars seventh in Payne Stewart
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Rain forced more delays but the Oral Roberts University women’s golf team pulled further ahead of the pack on Monday in the Missouri State/Payne Stewart Invitational as the Golden Eagles carded a 295 to increase their overall lead to seven shots. ORU (293-295-588) leads Wichita State (304-291-595) after the Shockers posted the best round of the tournament so far, moving up from third place.
Paty Torres got in under par on Monday and moved into a tie with Kennedy Ishee for the team lead. The duo is tied for fourth overall.
Oklahoma City University’s Kailey Campbell held third place, shooting 71-73–144 through two rounds.
Campbell, a sophomore from Oktaha, is four strokes off the leader. The Stars dropped to seventh with a 304-309–613. OCU was tied for third after Sunday’s round.
Anna Mikish, a sophomore from Choctaw, shot 76-78–154 for the Stars, while Emma Allen, a freshman from Tulsa, added 78-80–158.
Katie-Lee Wilson, a sophomore from Owasso, carded 79-81–160, and Caroline Goodin, a sophomore from Edmond, supplied 83-78–161. Abby Thompson, a junior from Edmond, shot 84-82–166 while playing as an individual.
The final round will be held 8:30 a.m. Tuesday in Springfield, Mo.
