ORU men in fifth, women drop to 30th
SPRING, Texas – Senior Blake Brorman and freshman Will Starkey each posted the best 54-hole score of their college careers as the duo helped the Oral Roberts men’s golf team to a fifth place finish at the inaugural Colin Montgomerie Invitational at Traditions of Cypresswood Golf Club. ORU shot 880 (300-287-293) for the tournament while Houston won the event by 20 shots at 844 (287-276-281).
The 880 by the Golden Eagles is the best 54-hole score since shooting 880 at UTEP in 2012. At 218, Brorman posted his best score and earned his first career top-20 finish, tying for 14th overall.
Of the four scores that counted for ORU, no one shot above a 75 on Tuesday. Trevor Torgerson carded one of just four eagles in the round. Torgerson, along with Cody Burrows, was also tied for second in the field with 14 pars on Tuesday.

The Golden Eagles women’s team fell to 30th in the Kiawah Island Classic. Coastal Carolina won the team championship at 871 (291-298-282) while ORU finished at 940 (303-318-319).
Golden Eagle golfers took a 10, 8 and a number of sevens during the Tuesday round, keeping the Golden Eagles from solid rounds. Until this tournament, ORU had only posted a score higher than 310 one time in 12 rounds this year.
