ORU men move up to ninth in Southland Conference Championship
McKINNEY, Texas – The Oral Roberts University men’s golf team stayed consistent and moved up a spot to ninth place overall at the Southland Conference Championship Tuesday, posting a 36-hole score of 623 (311-312). Sam Houston State increased its overall lead to 10 shots with a two-day score of 582 (290-292).
Blake Brorman continued his solid play, shooting 77 on Tuesday and is currently tied for 24th at 153 (76-77). Scott Newell returned to form after a tough opening round, improving 10 shots to shoot a 73 on Tuesday. The solid round moved him up to a tie for 33rd overall at 156 (83-73).
David Holtgrewe finished Tuesday one shot back of Newell at 157 (77-80), and is tied for 37th with one round to play. Parker Dolezal is tied for 44th at 160 (78-82) and Anthony Skirk (80-84—164) is tied for 52nd overall.
ORU will tee off at 8:10 a.m. on Wednesday for the third and final round, and will be paired with Abilene Christian and Houston Baptist.
