ORU moves up to fourth in Summit League Championship
NEWTON, Kan. – A 16-shot improvement by the Golden Eagles moved the Oral Roberts men’s golf team up the leader board Monday in the second round of the 2016 Summit League Championship. Sitting in a tie for fourth at 606 (311-295) with 18 holes to play, ORU is just four shots out of second place. South Dakota State leads the team race at 584 (292-292).
After a tough opening round, Will Starkey started off hot on Monday, birdieing three of the first six holes of the day.
As a team, ORU improved 16 shots from Sunday’s round. ORU posted a total of 15 birdies in round two, including four from Trevor Torgerson. Torgerson was the lone Golden Eagle to finish the day under par after shooting 71.
ORU tied Western Illinois for the second lowest round of the day, only behind SDSU’s 292.
