ORU tied at top in Summit League Championship, Burrows in second

NEWTON, Kan. – The Oral Roberts men’s golf team shot 290 (+2) in the opening round of The Summit League Men’s Golf Championship, and is tied with South Dakota State for the team lead after day one.

ORU was led in the first round by four-time All-Summit League selection Cody Burrows, who is tied for second at 70.

Jack Howes  shot 72 and is in sixth place, while second team All-Summit League selection Dustin Hasley is tied for seventh with a 73. All five ORU golfers shot 76 or better in the first round, and rank inside the top 25 individually.

As a team, the Golden Eagles played the par 4 holes to a 4.08 average (+4), the best in the field, while also carding a tournament best 21 birdies in the opening round. Burrows (seven) and Grayson Jones (five) lead the field in total birdies in the opening round.
