OSU women open season with 299 in Regional Challenge

PALOS VERDES, Calif. – The No. 9 Oklahoma State Cowgirls opened their spring season with a 15-over 299 in the first round of the Northrop-Grumman Regional Challenge.

Kenzie Niesen led the way for the Cowgirls against one of the toughest fields in the country, shooting a 2-over 73 with a pair of birdies.

Niesen closed the fall season with a 1-over finish at the Landfall Tradition, which placed her tied for tenth along with teammate Chih-Min Chen.
Alabama is the clubhouse leader by seven strokes thanks to Janie Jackson shooting a 3-under 68, which puts her tied individually with North Carolina’s Lexi Harkins.
Alexis Sadeghy is tied for 27th place after an opening round of 3-over and Linnea Johansson sits tied for 36th with a 4-over 75.
Chen is tied for 50th and Isabella Deilert is tied for 65th after opening rounds of 77 and 79 respectively.
