OU women win match play with Texas A&M
The University of Oklahoma women’s golf team registered a 5-4 win in a match-play competition over Texas A&M Wednesday. The event was played at the par-72 Tegavah Golf Club in Rio Verde, Ariz.
The event featured three morning alternate-shot matches and six afternoon one-on-one matches. After falling behind 2-1 in the morning duo matches, the Sooners fought back, winning four of the six one-on-one contests.
Sixth-year OU head Coach Veronique Drouin-Luttrell said she’s happy to see how her squad has played over its spring break.
“We’re excited to have won this dual,” Drouin-Luttrell said. “We played well as a whole, and I’m proud of the girls for the way we carried ourselves today. This should give us some confidence for the next tournaments.”
The Sooners will return to the course March 27-29 when they travel to Baton Rouge, La., for the LSU Tiger Golf Classic.
