OUs Reband is named to watch list for Haskins Award
NORMAN – Oklahoma men’s golf senior Garett Reband was selected to the Haskins Award Watch List, Golfweek announced on Tuesday.
Created by the Haskins Commission, the Fred Haskins Award presented by Stifel is presented to the “Most Outstanding Collegiate Golfer of the Year.” Known as the “Heisman of Golf”, the Haskins Award has been named in honor of Fred Haskins, who dedicated his career as Head Professional at the Country Club of Columbus in teaching junior golfers the art of competitive golf.
The Haskins Award winner is annually voted on by Division I players, coaches, and select golf media, thus truly making it the players award.
Reband is currently ranked No. 3 nationally by GolfStat and was recently named to the Ben Hogan Award Watch List in February. The Fort Worth, Texas, native was also selected to the U.S. Palmer Cup Team this past week.
The senior helped the team to two tournament victories in 2019-20. He collected five top-10 finishes this season including a share of first place at the Puerto Rico Classic. Reband concluded the season for the Sooners with a 69.90 scoring average.
The Haskins Award winner and two finalists will be announced on Golf Channel in May. The winner will receive an exemption into the PGA Tour’s A Military Tribute at the Greenbrier in September.
Voting will be located on our website at www.haskinsaward.com.
