Powerful field opens play in OGA Junior presented by Taylor Moore
An ultra-talented junior field begins play today in the Oklahoma Golf Association State Junior Championship presented by Taylor Moore at Kickingbird Golf Course in Edmond.
All five boys high school champions are in the field and two of the five girls champions. Defending champions James Roller and Emily Miller are now playing in college so a new champion will be crowned for both boys and girls.
Taylor Moore is the professional golfer from Edmond currently playing on the Korn Ferry Tour who has lent his support to the tournament for the past three years. Moore finished tied for third at 19-under Sunday in the Rex Hospital Open and now ranks 20th on the KFT standings. The top 25 at the end of the season earn status on the PGA Tour for 2022.
High school champions from earlier this spring in the field include Ben Stoller of Owasso (6A), Parker Payne of Noble (5A), Tres Hill of Elk City (4A), Drew Goodman of Christian Heritage (3A) and Dominic Stevens of Cresent (2A). Girls include Maddi Kamas of Kingfisher (4A) and Jenni Roller of Jenks (2A). Also in the field are OU commit Raychel Nelke of Pocolo and Oklahoma City University signee Reagan Chaney of Ardmore.
The field will play 18 holes of stroke play Monday and 18 Tuesday before the top 16 move into match play for two rounds Wednesday with the semifinals and finals on Thursday.
