RiverHawks grab lead in MIAA Championship, RSU fourth, UCO in fifth

BOLIVAR, Mo. – Northeastern State is the clubhouse leader after the opening round of the MIAA Men’s Golf Championship Monday, holding a three-stroke lead on the par-72, Silo Ridge Country Club. Rogers State was fourth after the first round and Central Oklahoma held the fifth spot

The RiverHawks shot a 289, with Gabe Replogle tied for first overall, shooting a 3-under 69.  The junior was red hot out of the gate with five birdies in the first eight holes.  Replogle is tied with two others for the medalist lead.

Christian Yanovitch shot an even 72 with three birdies and was tied for fifth place.  Brett Wilcoxen was a stroke back of him, tied for seventh.

Carlos Gomez and Ryan Morant were tied for 17th place overall shooting a 75.

Missouri Southern and Washburn are tied for second place, shooting a 292; the RiverHawks will be paired with them again on Tuesday for round two starting at 11:30 a.m.

Rogers State shot 297 (+9) and was in fourth place.

Tyler Collier leads RSU in a tie for fifth after shooting 72 (E) in the first round, and is only three strokes off the leaders. The freshman drained five birdies in the round.

Daniel Robles is one stroke behind him in a five-way for seventh with a card of 73 (+1). Elliot-Han Monteremal is in the next group of five tied at 12th with a 74 (+2). Tyler Cornwell sits in a group of eight tied at 32nd with a 78 (+6). Ty Nicar rounds out the squad in a three-way tie for 44th after shooting 81 (+9).

UCO posted a team score of 299, 11-over-par, after 18 holes around the 6,938-yard track.

Kyle Hickey and Ross Taylor led the way for the Bronchos. Both are tied for 12th in the individual standings after shooting an opening round 2-over-par 74. Bennett Baldwin (75) and Caleb Kimmel(76) were also counted while Evan Griffith (78) rounded out the squad.

Central Oklahoma is playing 54 holes in Bolivar this week as the Bronchos look to win their fourth MIAA Championship since 2013. UCO will play 18 more on Tuesday before wrapping up the tournament Wednesday.
