RiverHawks in eighth place in NSU Golf Classic
BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – The Northeastern State men’s golf team sits in eighth place after Monday’s opening rounds of the 16th Annual NSU Golf Classic. The tournament is being contested on the par-71, 6,607-yard Hillcrest Country Club.
The event is the second MIAA-sanctioned tournament in 2014-15. The results from the event will be used to help determine the conference champion in April.
The RiverHawks, who are hosting the tournament, carded a 31-over 599.
Arkansas Tech is leading the field after shooting a 21-over 589. Fellow MIAA members Central Oklahoma and Central Missouri sit in a tie for second at 23-over par 591.
Senior Brad Hager leads the way for the RiverHawks. He shot a 4-over par 146 and sits in a tie for eighth place. Junior Brent Williamson and senior Zach Tucker are locked in a tie for 34th. They both finished Monday’s rounds at 10-over 152. Sophomore Marc Johnson carded an 11-over 153 to finish the day T-39. Sophomore Tyler Green shot 13-over par 155 and is locked in a tie for 51st. Senior Jonas Granel, playing as an individual, is tied for 58th after shooting 15-over par 157. Fellow senior Josh Strimple also played as an individual and finished tied for 67th while carding a 17-over 159.
Groups will begin teeing off of both nines at 8 a.m. Tuesday morning for the final round.
