Rogers State women tied for second In Fort Smith

FORT SMITH, Ark. – Behind three players tied for second place, the Rogers State women’s golf team leads the UAFS Lady Lion Classic after round one Monday at Hardscrabble Country Club.


Mica Eastin, Kina Boone, and Stirling Phillips all carded matching scores of 6-over-par 76 on day one to pace the Hillcats to the early lead on the par-70 course.


Chelsea Burney capped her day firing an 80 to position her tied for eighth seeking her second top-10 finish of the season. Elizabeth McCloskey posted an 82 on the day for RSU and is tied for 13th heading into the final round.


Raquel Trevino made the trek to Fort Smith and competed as an individual also sitting inside the top 10 tying for eighth place after an 80 in the opener.


The Hillcats tee it up for the second and final round starting Tuesday morning at 8 a.m. looking for their first win of the 2015-16 season holding a four-shot lead over second-place UA Fort Smith. Anne Stiles from the host Lady Lions has the individual lead following a 1-over-par 71 in her first round.
