Roller leads by five in bid for first WOGA Junior Girls title

Like and Follow Golf Oklahoma

Although it seems like she has won most everything she’s entered this spring and summer, Jenni Roller has never previously won the Women’s Oklahoma Golf Association Junior Girls Championship.

That may be about to change. Roller, of Jenks, shot an even-par 70 at Stillwater Country Club Tuesday to take a five-shot lead over Natalie Blonien of Altus and Brooklyn Benn of Edmond after the first round. The tournament concludes with 18 holes Wednesday.

Roller, playing in her final WOGA Junior Girls before beginning her career at the University of Tulsa this fall, has won the Class 3A State Championship, the Southern Hills Junior Masters and the Oklahoma Golf Association Junior State Amateur Match Play and Stroke Play titles this spring. She won a qualifier for the U.S. Junior Girls Championship and will begin competition in that event Monday at The Club at Olde Stone in Bowling Green, Ky.

Lucy Darr of Stillwater and Jaiden Gregston of Duncan are tied for fourth after shooting 76. Josey Cavitt of Burneyville is tied with Juliana Hong of Norman for sixth at 77, followed by Beans Factor of Ada, Kamryn Zuniga of Oklahoma City and Olivia Coit of Edmond tied for seventh at 78.
