James Roller, recently crowned Oklahoma Junior Champion, and Oklahoma State golfer Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen each shot 5-under 67 to share the lead after the first round of the Oklahoma Golf Association Stroke Play Championship at The Territory Golf & Country Club in Duncan.

Roller, of Jenks, is bound for Texas Tech in the fall, while Neergaard-Petersen, a native of Niva, Denmark, will be a sophomore at OSU and is a two-time (2018-19) German International Amateur champion.

One shot behind with 4-under 68s on the Randy Heckenkemper-design are Carson Tewell of Edmond and Jordan Wilson of Edmond. Another shot back at 69 are Heston Brown of Cordell, Jaxon Dowell of Edmond, Tyson Reeder of Edmond and Brian Stark, another member of the Oklahoma State team.

It’s a deep and talented field that includes the likes of University of Oklahoma golfers Logan McAllister and Lane Wallace as well as the University of Arkansas’ Mason Overstreet, each of whom shot 1-under 71 to stay within reason of the lead.

Defending champion Heath Myers of Kingfisher opened with a 73. The tournament continues with 18 holes Tuesday, after which it will be cut to the low 30 and ties for the final round Wednesday. Complete scores are below.
