RSU’s Blomander shoots 67, ties for second in Battle at Hilton Head
HILTON HEAD, S.C. – Edwin Blomander rallied on Tuesday to earn a second-place at the Battle at Hilton Head Island to lead the way for the Rogers State men’s golf team.
Blomander shot a 67 on Tuesday, the best round of the tournament with the exception of winner Sam Broadhurst of Lincoln Memorial who shot 65 and 66 over two days. Blomander climbed 10 places to finish in a tie for second, going -3 for the two-day event hosted at the Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort – Arthur Hills Course.
Blomander had just one bogey in his round, and reeled off four consecutive birdies at one point to shoot a 5-under-par round for the day.
The Hillcats improved their score by 10 strokes on the day, finishing with a +10 as a team after shooting a 298 in round two. Rogers State climbed one spot to finish in a tie for seventh overall with Tusculum, 27 strokes behind Lincoln Memorial.
Gonzalo Chaves shot 74-79 and tied for 33rd in the 74-man field. Jacob Baird also recovered nicely from day one, improving by five strokes to finish the tournament at  17-over after rounds of 83-78.
