Sadeghy shoots personal record, takes WOGA Stroke Play Championship
By Lana Wynn
Oklahoma State senior Alexis Sadeghy shot a bogey-free 5-under 66 Tuesday at Muskogee Country Club to defend her title in the WOGA Stroke Play Championship. It was her lowest round in relation to par and gave her a convincing eight-shot victory over Lexi Armon of Northeastern State University.
Sadeghy’s sizzling final round on the Perry Maxwell layout moved her to 2-under overall (74-66-140). She entered the second and final round in second place behind upcoming Rejoice Christian junior Taylor Towers, who shot 1-over 72 the first day.
“I’d say the best part of my game was my approach shots,” said Sadeghy. “I struggled a bit with my driver yesterday. It was in the trees a lot, so I didn’t really get a chance to hit a lot of iron shots yesterday and today I kind of got to see one of my strengths in my game, which is iron shots. And my driver was a lot better today, so that helped me out.”

Armon took second place with a total score of 152 (77-75-152). Towers, a verbal commit for Missouri State University, shot 9-over 80 in the second round and finished in third place.
Sadeghy has shot 66 before on a par-70 course, but the 5-under round was not only her best yet but also her first bogey-free round. Earlier this year, she filled in for an injured teammate at the Big XII Championship in a last minute turn of events that finished with her tied for fifth place.
Sadeghy will be entering her senior year at OSU this fall. She will be competing in the WOGA State Amateur July 17-20 at Oak Tree National.
Janet Miller won both the Mid-Amateur and Senior divisions with scores of 78-82 for a 160 total. She bested Rebecca Davis in a one-hole playoff for the Mid-Amateur and Senior Championship flight titles with a birdie on the first hole.
