Saxon, Carney, Worrell, Davis, McCracken advance in Tour qualifying

Charlie Saxon shot 18-under par and finished tied for 10th to safely move on in a Tour First Stage qualifier at Lantana (Texas) Country Club Oct. 4-6. Saxon, a Tulsa native who played for the University of Oklahoma is now playing out of Oak Tree National.

Also qualifying for second stage were former Stephen Carney of Tulsa, tied for 14th at 15-under, former Oklahoma State golfer Edward Loar, tied for 16th at 14-under, and former University of Tulsa golfer Chris Worrell of Enid, now living in Houston, who tied for 24th at 12-under.

Hunter Sparks of Edmond and former OU golfer Michael Gellerman did not advance. Complete results are here.

In another first-stage event in Nebraska City, Wyndham Clark, who spent three years at OSU before transferring to Oregon, finished second at 15-under. Also advancing were former OSU teammate Ian Davis of Edmond, who tied for 10th at 6-under, and former University of Tulsa golfer Logan McCracken of Oklahoma City, who tied for 18th at 4-under.
