Scissortail Golf Course to be auctioned
Scissortail Golf Course in Verdigris is going to be auctioned on Nov. 2 at 2 p.m. The auction will be conducted by Bid Loud Auctions, under the auspices of long-time Tulsa auctioneer Jay Litchfield. It will be held at the clubhouse at 25474 Stonebridge Parkway, with open houses held there on Oct. 19 and Oct. 26 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Scissortail was opened in 2006 as a real estate development course named Stonebridge Golf Course by former owner Terry Dorsey. It has had two other owners but has been under the auspices of a Tulsa bank since 2011.
General manager and superintendent Chad Weinrich said the Randy Heckenkemper design has never been in better condition and that the course was coming off its busiest month in September in the five years he has been employed.
"I think if somebody buys it and has the money to promote it, it can do very well," Weinrich said. "It’s a very good golf course."
Scissortail had a huge agronomic setback in 2010 when the majority of its hybrid Bermuda fairways died from winter kill. They have since been replaced by U3 Bermuda which has restored the course to good condition
If no one is interested in purchasing the course, the land will be auctioned separately in eight tracts ranging from eight to 28 acres, with opening bids at $25,000 per tract.
The course will include the clubhouse and two maintenance buildings. Maintenance equipment and supplies will be bid on separately. For more information on the auction, call 918-639-7653.
