ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The Oklahoma women’s golf team finished ninth (31-over, 895) at the Albuquerque Regional at The Championships Course at UNM Wednesday.

“Overall I’m proud of our team,” said Oklahoma women’s golf head coach Veronique Drouin-Luttrell. “At times we struggled but everyone kept working hard and continued to push each other. This is obviously not the result we wanted.”

Hannah Screen, who led the Sooners over the three-day tournament, tied for eighth (1-over, 217) and missed the second individual spot to advance to the NCAA Championship by one stroke. Florida’s Marina Escobar Domingo (3-under, 213) and Sam Houston’s Viera Permata Rosada (E, 216) earned the two individual spots.

Screen started her round on the back nine and dropped a stroke on her third hole. The senior responded with a birdie on the 14th hole and finished the back nine even. Screen recorded her second birdie to start the front nine and dropped back after a pair of bogeys on the next two holes. The London, England product recorded her final birdie of the round on the sixth and concluded her day with an even par 72.

Screen recorded the fifth-best average on par 5s (4.58, -5) and recorded the fourth-most pars (40).

Fellow senior Libby Winans recorded her best round of the tournament Wednesday and matched Screen (E, 72) for the best round by a Sooner. She dropped two strokes in her first four holes and moved back to even after birdies on the 18th and the third holes. Another setback moved Winans to two over with two holes remaining. The Richardson, Texas product recorded back-to-back birdies to end the tournament. She tied for 37th (8-over, 224) and recorded a team-best four birdies in the final round.

“This senior class means so much to me and they all have been great representative of our program and the University of Oklahoma,” said Drouin-Luttrell. “I’m forever grateful they chose to spend their college careers at OU and can’t wait to see what’s next for them.”

Mikhaela Fortuna opened her final round even through the back nine, recording a birdie on the 13th hole. Fortuna tallied a pair of birdies to start the front nine and moved back to even after a double bogey on the fourth hole. She finished her final round 2-over 74 and tied for 42nd (9-over, 225).

Maria Fernanda Martinez (3-over, 75) and Meagan Winans (4-over, 76) rounded out the OU lineup. Martinez finished the tournament tied for 54th (14-over, 230) and Winans tied for 56th (16-over, 230).

The Sooners concluded their 2021-22 season at the regional. Oregon (regional winner), Texas, Georgia and TCU are the four teams that will advance to the NCAA Championship.
