Southern Hills Foundation issues $100,000 challenge grant to benefit Tulsa public golf courses
Today, the Southern Hills Country Club Charitable Foundation announced a $100,000.00 challenge grant for the benefit of the Tulsa Public Golf Course Alliance Fund in support of the Alliance Fund’s efforts to improve the golf course conditions at Page Belcher and Mohawk Park golf courses. All donations made pursuant to the challenge will be matched by the club’s foundation up to $100,000.00.
In January, 2022, the Tulsa Public Golf Course Improvement Committee was tasked by the Tulsa City Council with raising $1 million in private funds in order to receive $1 million in American Rescue Plan Act funds to be used for needed improvements at the city-owned 36-hole golf course facilities at Page Belcher and Mohawk Park. If the Southern Hills Country Club Charitable Foundation’s challenge is successful it will meet the goal of $1 million.
The foundation created the challenge with the hope that other country clubs, individual golfers and the community in general will also contribute to Tulsa Public Golf Course Alliance Fund to help reach the $1 million goal. The foundation views this action as an acknowledgment of the importance that public golf courses have on the community.

“We are very grateful for the generous offer by the Southern Hills Country Club Charitable Foundation and all the other individuals who have donated to this fund already,” commented Nick Sidorakis, General Manager of Southern Hills who serves as a member of the Tulsa Public Golf Course Improvement Committee.
“The challenge grant will go a long way toward meeting the $1 million match. All of this will enable us to make significant improvements to all four courses. Whether it’s $10, $100, $1,000, any donation amount is welcomed and greatly appreciated!”
Sidorakis is also the chairman of the First Tee of Tulsa, which is located at Mohawk Park. The Southern Hills Country Club Charitable Foundation has invested over $2 million in the First Tee Tulsa over the last 21 years, creating one of the nation’s most successful First Tee chapters, benefiting the next generation of golfers in the community.
