Southwestern Christian fills leaderboard at Swinging Eagle Invitational
Grant Ferreira shot a final-round 69 to take second individually and move his Southwestern Christian University squad into second Tuesday at the Swinging Eagle Invitational at Shawnee Country Club. Colby Unruh of MidAmerica Nazarene, based in Olathe, Kan., edged him for the individual title by a single shot, helping MidAmerica win the team title by five shots.
Ferreira shot rounds of 75-73-69 for a 217 total while Unruh shot 71-73-72 for 216.
Gus Fritz tied for eighth. The Southwestern Christian B team finished third, led by Stetson Provence with a tie for third at 219 (78-71-70). Ben Skero joined Fritz in a tie for eighth at 223, giving the Eagles four players in the top 10.
In the 36-hole women’s championship, Southwestern Christian cruised to a 19-shot victory over Science and Arts University of Oklahoma. Final results are here.
Southwestern’s Christina Galban shot 78-76 to win the event by 12 shots over Moriah Shropshire of Science and Arts.
