Stars climb to seventh in NAIA National Championship
MESA, Ariz. – Oklahoma City University tallied the second best round of the day in the NAIA men’s golf championships Thursday at Las Sendas Golf Club.
The 10th-ranked Stars rose to a tie for seventh place in the team race through three rounds of national-tournament play. OCU’s Leandro Mihaich moved into the top 10 of the individual standings.
Oklahoma City have accumulated a 302-295-286–883 on the par-72, 7,004-yard course. Bellevue (Neb.) shot the top round of the round with a 285. Keiser (Fla.) enters the last round in the lead with a 282-292-292–866.
Mihaich, a freshman from Córdoba, Argentina, has produced a 74-72-70–216, which stood tied for ninth place. Mihaich landed six strokes off the pace. Mihaich knocked in five birdies in the third round to bring his tournament total to 12 birdies. Mihaich put himself in contention for all-tournament honors.
Dylan Teeter from the Stars has totaled a 73-74-73–220 to tie for 25th. Teeter, a sophomore from Bixby, drained six birdies to bring his three-day tally to 13. Alex Bloxham turned in the team’s top round of the tournament among his 76-78-69–223. Bloxham, a freshman from Broken Arrow, nailed three birdies and avoided bogeys throughout the day. Bloxham has collected seven birdies this week.
Tres Hill provided OCU with a 79-71-74–224. Hill, a sophomore from Elk City, made four birdies Thursday to give him 11 for the tournament. Will Fore, a senior from Southlake, Texas, has carded an 88-99-81–268.
The final round of the NAIA Championships will tee off 7 a.m. MST (9 a.m. CDT) Friday at Las Sendas Golf Club.
