Stars Mihaich, Kamas are Golfers of the Year, four ORU men make All-Summit League team
Stars’ Mihaich Reels in SAC Player of Year
OKLAHOMA CITY – Leandro Mihaich of Oklahoma City University hauled in Sooner Athletic Conference men’s golfer of the year.
Mihaich also landed the SAC freshman of the year honor, while Wayland Baptist’s Tom Harp grabbed league coach of the year.
The all-conference team included Mihaich and Dylan Teeter from Oklahoma City, Tom Amman and Chayan Duha of Texas Wesleyan and Wayland Baptist’s Benjamin Lubker.
In 2022-23, Mihaich owns the 11th best scoring average among the NAIA with 71.58 shots per round. Mihaich, a freshman from Córdoba, Argentina, majoring in marketing, has accumulated four top-three finishes in 2022-23. He collected SAC player of the week for April 3-9. Mihaich notched his first career win by three strokes in the SAC Championships on Monday and Tuesday at Waterchase Golf Club in Fort Worth, Texas, with a 67-71-70–208.
Teeter has provided OCU with a 72.47 stroke average and three top-six finishes this season. Teeter, a sophomore from Bixby, Okla., studying accounting, tied for third place in the Allen Pease Intercollegiate on March 27-28 at Rose Creek Golf Club in Edmond, Okla. Teeter became a two-time all-SAC performer.
The SAC bestowed its coach of the year honor upon Harp for the fourth time. The Pioneers held a spot in all six of the national polls with a high rank of fifth with victories in the Wayland Baptist Invitational and the SAC Championships this season. Harp directed Wayland Baptist to its second conference crown and first since 2014.

Maddi Kamas of OCU snags SAC golfer of year
OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University’s Maddi Kamas became Sooner Athletic Conference women’s golf player of the year.
The Stars boasted of SAC golfer of the year, league freshman of the year (MaKayla Tyrrell) and three of the five all-conference selections. Texas Wesleyan’s Kevin Millikan landed SAC coach of the year.
The all-SAC team consisted of Kamas, Natalie Gough and Paige Wood of Oklahoma City, Texas Wesleyan’s Malisone Chanthapanya and Southwestern Christian’s Cristina Galban.
Kamas has posted a 72.95 stroke average, which tops the NAIA, in 22 rounds this season. Kamas, a sophomore from Kingfisher, Okla., majoring in business administration, scooped up the SAC individual title, three victories, two second-place finishes and six top-three showings in nine tournaments. Kamas has garnered three conference golfer of the week awards and NAIA player of the week for March 13-19. Kamas raked in the league individual crown by one shot Monday and Tuesday at Waterchase Golf Club in Fort Worth, Texas, with a 69-72-74–215.
In her career, Kamas has taken two league individual championships, two all-SAC honors, seven weekly accolades from the conference, three national golfer of the week awards and six wins.
Tyrrell owns a 75.30 scoring average in 20 rounds on the season. Tyrrell, a freshman from Southlake, Texas, majoring in marketing, has turned in three top-five finishes, including runner-up in the Kyle Blaser Invitational on March 27-28 and fourth in the SAC Championships. She nabbed all-tournament in the conference tournament.
Gough has supplied the Stars with 75.57 shots per 18 holes, giving OCU four individuals ranked in the top 15 in scoring average this season. Gough, a graduate student working towards a master’s in business administration, placed among the top six five times with runner-up finishes in the Kyle Blaser Invitational and the conference tournament. In her career, Gough has taken five all-conference nods, four all-tournament honors in the SAC Championships and three league player of the year awards.
Wood has turned in 75.13 strokes per round with three wins, two SAC player of the week nods and one NAIA golfer of the week accolade this season. Wood, a sophomore from McKinney, Texas, studying broadcast journalism, made the all-SAC team for the second year in a row and has become a three-time conference player of the week honoree in her career.
Millikan snagged his fourth SAC coach of the year accolade. Texas Wesleyan has collected four victories and appearances in the NAIA top 25 in all six polls with a high ranking of No. 7 in 2022-23. He has guided the Lady Rams to 24 tournament wins in 11 years.

Four ORU golfers named to All-Summit League team
LINCOLN, Neb. – Four Oral Roberts men’s golfers were named with All-Summit League honors, league officials announced the 2023 Men’s Golf All-League teams Friday. A vote of the league’s 10 head coaches determined two teams of five, which also included three repeat all-league honorees.
Brandon Hoff and Rocco Repetto-Taylor earned spots on the All-Summit League First Team with Repetto-Taylor being recognize for a second time in his career on the league first team.
Hoff also won three tournament titles during his second season with the Golden Eagles. He was right behind Adams in stroke average, posting the second best mark in the League at 71.7 and added two more top-10 finishes.
Repetto-Taylor had the best season of his career, posting two top-five finishes and three more top-1o finishes to post a 71.9 stroke average.
Jared Strathe and Lane Wallace garnered league honorable mention, the first for either golfer.
