Favored Stillwater has a three-shot lead over surprising host Owasso through 36 holes of the Class 6A State Championship at Bailey Ranch Golf Course in Owasso.

Stillwater is at 601 with Owasso at 604. Also in striking range are defending champion Norman North at 607, Norman High School at 608 and Jenks at 614. Perennial power Edmond North is at 619. The final round in every class is Tuesday morning.

Mason Haley of Enid shot rounds of 71-72 to share the first round individual lead at 1-under with Parker Sands of Edmond North (71-72) and CJ Phillips of Edmond Santa Fe (70-73). Defending champion Grant Gudgel of Stillwater is a shot back at even-par 144 (71-71). Josh Stuart of Norman North and Sebastian Salazar of Norman are tied for fifth at 145.

Owasso, starting two freshmen, two sophomores and a junior, put together the day’s best round in the afternoon, shooting 295. Freshman Jonas Vrska and sophomore Ian Wilcoxen are tied for 11th.

“We’ve been getting better and making progress,” said coach Corey Burd, whose team finished second to Stillwater by seven shots at regionals. “But they really surprised me in a great way with that second round this afternoon. Playing at home has to be worth something as well. Norman North won it last year on their home course at Jimmie Austin and we’ve got more rounds under our belt here than anywhere else.”

Class 5A

Class 5A results:

Bishop Kelley has a slim three-shot advantage over Duncan through 36 holes at The Territory Golf & Country Club in Duncan.

In the individual race, Bishop Kelley’s Will Hennessee shot 6-under 138 (70-68) to build a 7-shot lead over Duncan’s Baylor Bostick (73-72).

Class 4A

Class 4A results

Oklahoma signee Ryder Cowan shot rounds of 67-68 for a 7-under total of 135 but only leads by two in the Class 4A State Championship at par-71 Prairie West Golf Course in Weatherford.

Cowan leads Ben Lathrop of Heritage Hall, who shot 69-68 for a 137 total. One shot back is Cowan’s teammate at Oklahoma Christian School Bryant Polhill, who shot 69-69. Also in range in fourth is Mason Schmidt of Elk City at 139 (70-69).

OCS has a four-shot lead over Heritage Hall in the team race with Elk City 43 shots back in third.

Class 3A

Class 3A results

Plainview opened up a 45-shot lead over Kingfisher in the Class 3A state championship at Lakeview Golf Course in Ardmore.

Jace Chaney of Plainview shot rounds of 69-73 to lead by a shot over Carter Nutt of Christian Heritage, who opened with 79 but then fired the day’s low round of 64.

Kaden Risenhoover of Stigler is third at 145 after rounds of 74-71, followed by Bliss Newton of Lone Grove at 147 (72-75) and Caden Thompson of Inola at 148 (76-72).

Class 2A

Class 2A Results

Community Christian leads Latta by 16 shots after 36 holes of the Class 2A State Championship at Lake Hefner Golf Course in Oklahoma City.

Collin Bond of Community Christian has a six-shot lead over Carter Ray of Walters after Bond shot rounds of 67-63 for a 130 total. Ray shot 69-67, while Benton Manley of Regent Prep shot 68-72 for a 140 total. Parker Pogue of Latta is fourth at 141 (69-72).
