Stoller, Strickland win playoffs in Red River Shootout

Ben Stoller of Owasso won a playoff with Zachary Frazer of Coppell, Texas and Parker Payne of Norman to win the individual boys championship in the Red River Shootout pitting top players from the Oklahoma Junior Golf Tour against players from the Texas Junior Golf Tour.

In the girls division, Kate Strickland of Lincoln, Neb., playing for the Oklahoma team, won a playoff with MaKayla Tyrrell of Southlake, Texas.

Stoller shot rounds of 71-71 while Frazier came in at 72-70 and Payne shot 72-70. Three golfers finished a shot behind at 143 – Ethan Parker of Austin, Texas (70-73), Josh Stuart of Blanchard (70-73) and Asher Whitaker of Wichita, Kan. (70-73).

Strickland shot 71 on Sunday after opening with a 74 Saturday. Olivia Coit of Edmond (75-75) tied for third with Anna Kate Nichols of Little Rock, Ark. (73-77) at 150. In a tie for fifth at 151 were Jordyn Arts of Trophy Club, Texas and Kate Bennett of McKinney, Texas.

Texas won the overall team score 16.5 to 13.5, snapping a three-year run of victories by the Oklahoma team.
