NORMAN – Oklahoma women’s golf competes in Norman for the only time this season when it hosts the seventh-annual Schooner Fall Classic at Belmar Golf Club. The three-day event takes place Friday through Sunday and is free for the public to attend. The 15-team tournament will be played with a par of 70 and 6,048 yards.

Hosted in partnership with the Toby Keith Foundation, the Schooner Fall Classic is a unique tournament that ties in a community service element for all participating student-athletes and coaches. Following Friday’s opening round, the golfers and staff members have the opportunity to interact with children staying at OK Kids Korral in Oklahoma City.

The Toby Keith Foundation works to encourage the health and happiness of pediatric cancer patients and their families through OK Kids Korral, which is a cost-free, comfortable home for pediatric patients receiving treatment. All proceeds from the Schooner Fall Classic benefit The Toby Keith Foundation as it enters its sixth year of helping children battling cancer.

“We’re excited to play in Norman this weekend,” said OU head coach Veronique Drouin-Luttrell. “It’s always fun to get to play in front of our families and friends. We obviously know the golf course very well and each player needs to play their own game.”

The tournament is also unique in that it is one of the few collegiate golf tournaments to be televised. The opening round will air from 12:00-3 p.m. CT on Fox Sports Southwest, Fox College Sports Central and the Fox Sports Go App (cable package authentication required). SoonerSports TV personality Chad McKee will provide play-by-play during the round, while Beth Brown and former OU golfer Kaitlyn Rohrback will serve as analysts. Megan McDonald will provide on-the-course coverage as a reporter.

The loaded tournament features four teams ranked in the top 25 of the WGCA Coaches Poll: No. 2 Texas, No. 13 Florida State, No. 19 Illinois and No. 25 Alabama. The field is rounded out by Baylor, Clemson, Houston, Louisville, Miami, Mississippi State, Notre Dame, TCU, Texas A&M and Texas State.

Oklahoma opened the season with a sixth-place finish at the Minnesota Invitational earlier in September. Junior Kaitlin Milligan and sophomore Mikhaela Fortuna led the Sooners by tying for 12th place.

The Sooners will tee off the front beginning at 9:50 a.m. CT on Friday and will be paired with golfers from Notre Dame and Florida. Live scoring will be available on
