SW OSU jumps to second to lead Oklahoma teams in Dave Falconer Invite
Southwestern Oklahoma State managed to take 13 strokes off its first round score in the final day of competition at the Dave Falconer Invitational, shooting a 289. SWOSU turned in a 591 over 36 holes to take second place as a team.
Manuel Arzuaga led the team, tying for seventh place after shaving five strokes off his first round score. His 70 on the second set of 18 holes gave him a 145 total and marks his first top 10 finish since he took the individual title at the Texoma Championship in late September.
Two strokes off Arzuaga was Jake Duvall, who shot a 73 and a 147 over two rounds to tie for 19th overall. Stefan Idstam showed great improvement on the second day of competition, taking seven strokes off his initial round of play. He turned in a 71 in the second round, and a 149 overall, to tie for 29th place.
Seth Overstreet tied for 51st overall after carding a 78 in the second round and a 153 total. Rounding out the group in a tie for 77th place was Marques Gomez. His 75 was an eight stroke improvement over his first round score and he turned in a 158 overall.
Washburn took the team title, besting SWOSU by seven strokes with a 584 over 36 holes. Mauricio Lira of Henderson State took the individual crown with a 141 over the two day event.
