SWOSU, RSU conclude successful seasons at Division II National Championship

Southwestern Oklahoma State University and Rogers State University concluded their appearances in the NCAA Division II National Championship by finishing in the 14th and 15th positions, respectively, as the stroke play portion concluded Thursday at Orange County National in Winter Garden, Fla.

Rebecca Lau shot a final-round 74 for SWOSU and was the school’s top finisher in 34th place. Megan Brown had the low round Thursday with a 72, while Drew Dodgion shot 76, Freya Sala 77 and Ashlyn Acosta carded an 81.

After three rounds at the par 72, 5,992 yard course, the Hillcats finished in 15th with a total card of 906 (+42).

Marelda Ayal led the Hillcats as she finished in a group of six tied at 40th with a total card of 222 (+6). The senior finished the day with an even-par 72. Her three-round score is the lowest individual score in school history at the National Championships, passing Jessica Green’s 226 (+10) at the 2022 National Championships.

Lydia Sitorus finished in a four-way tie for 59th with a total card of 225 (+9). Brianna Maddux finished in a five-way tie for 68th with a 227 (+11). Jessica Osden finished in a three-way tie for 80th with a 232 (+16). After subbing in for Kristin Gudmundsdottir, Lauren Anderson rounded out the group shooting an 80 (+8).
