Teen fires 60, Chassart reaches 20-under as scoring records fall at The Patriot
Blades Brown, the 18-year-old phenom from Nashville who turned professional after his junior year in high school, fired an 11-under 60 to leap up the leaderboard during the second round of the Compliance Solutions Championship at The Patriot Golf Club Friday.
The birdie assault on the course continued Friday as Adrien Dumond de Chassart fired his second consecutive round of 61 to reach 20-under par, the lowest score through 36 holes in Korn Ferry Tour history. Brown, who made a bogey on the fourth hole to keep him from matching the opening day 59 of Davis Chatfield, moved into a tie for second at 16-under with Pontus Nyholm and Zecheng Dou.
Chatfield cooled off considerably with a 1-under 70 and dropped into a tie for 10th at 13 under.
Brown started his round on the back nine and made just a par on the par-5 10th hole. But he picked up birdies on holes 12, 14 and 15, then nearly made an albatross on the par-5 16th, leaving himself a tap-in for eagle. He then birdied 17, 18 and 1 in succession to reach 8-under through 10 holes and the 59 watch or better was on.
He made bogey on the fourth hole, a par-5 for members converted to a par-4 for the tournament. But he rebounded with birdies on holes 5, 6, 8 and 9 to come within a single shot of the event’s second 59 in two days.
“I mean, I’m super happy with the 60, which by the way that was really surprising to see how low the scores are,” Brown said. “This is not an easy golf course. I just think you put professionals on a course with no wind, I mean, get ready for the birdies. Yeah, I’m really pleased with the way I played today.”
The low round among the local contingent on the second day was an 8-under 63 by Logan McAllister. The former University of Oklahoma golfer and Oak Tree National member began the tournament in 25th place on the Korn Ferry Tour points list needing to move up five spots in the final two events to secure a PGA Tour card for 2026. McAllister said he couldn’t dwell on that.
“I’ve just got to keep playing good golf and hopefully something special can happen this weekend,” McAllister said. “The guys out here are so good. The fairways out here are pretty wide and not much wind. You have a decent amount of wedges into greens and there are just going to be a lot of birdies. When you have 10 feet for birdie you feel like you should make it because the greens are just perfect.
“I feel like I’ve really improved this year and that is the main thing. I’m competitive, I want to be there But I can’t worry about it too much.”
