Teeter leads OCU in first round of NAIA national championship
MESA, Ariz. – Dylan Teeter led Oklahoma City University in the first round of the NAIA men’s golf championships Tuesday at Las Sendas Golf Club.
Teeter tied for 29th place individually for the 10th-ranked Stars. OCU posted a 302 team score on the par-72, 7,004-yard course and was in 17th place. The top 17 teams after Wednesday’s second round will advance to the final 36 holes.
Teeter, a sophomore accounting major from Bixby, came up with a 37-36–73. Teeter made four birdies.
The Stars’ Leandro Mihaich delivered a 41-33–74. Mihaich, a freshman from Cordoba, Argentina, collected four birdies on the back nine. Alex Bloxham supplied OCU with a 38-38–76. Bloxham, a freshman from Broken Arrow, Okla., studying business administration, sank an eagle on the par-5, 476-yard 10th hole.
Tres Hill carded a 40-39–79, while Will Fore shot a 46-42–88 for OCU.
Play was suspended during the afternoon wave due to rain and continuous lightning strikes in the area. The remainder of Round 1 will be postponed to 6 a.m. local time Wednesday. Round 2 will be played immediately following. The day will conclude with a cut down to 17 teams and 40 individuals, including ties.
