Thompson, Stanford III go deep in first round of OGA Junior

Grady Thompson, who won both the Stroke Play and Match Play Championships at the Oklahoma Golf Association Junior Amateur in 2025, seems intent on following up that feat.

Stroke play concludes with 18 holes today after which the top 16 will advance to match play beginning Wednesday.

Reed Higgins and Chase Blaser, also both of Edmond, are three shots back of the lead after rounds of 67. Jones Vrska of Owasso and Ty Neatherlin of Edmond are tied for fifth after 2-under rounds of 68.

Kate Moore of Tulsa, who won the Match Play title in 2025, shot 1-over 71 to share the first-round lead with Dia Singh of Bixby. Defending Stroke Play champion Juliana Hong of Norman is tied is third with a 74, followed by Lily Reid of Coweta and Charlotte Dixon of Midwest City at 75.
