Tulsa men take eighth place at Thunderbird Invitational

Tempe, Ariz. – The Tulsa men’s golf team finished in an eighth-place tie with a 54-hole total of 866 at the 42nd Annual ASU Thunderbird Invitational on Sunday afternoon at the Karsten Golf Course in Tempe, Ariz.  The Hurricane turned in a final round score of 284, Tulsa’s best round of the three-day tournament.
 
Tulsa junior Matt Mabrey carded a final round 68 and finished in eighth place with a four-under par total of 209. Senior Mark Mumford finished in 26th place after turning in a 54-hole total of 215, after a two-over par 215 today. Fellow senior Logan McCracken had a final round even-par 71 and finished with a seven-over par 220 score for 43rd place.
 
Tulsa’s Matthew Marquez and Colton Staggs finished in 73rd and 75th place, respectively. Marquez carded a one-over par 72 for a 230 total, while Staggs finished with a 231 total after carding two straight rounds of 75 and today’s 81 score.

Host and 32nd-ranked Arizona State claimed the team title with an 817 total score, followed by Iowa (837), Arizona (847), Pepperdine (848) and Iowa State (851) rounding out the top-five teams. ASU’s Jon Rahm paced the Sun Devils and won individual medalist honors with a 21-under par score of 192.
 
Tulsa is back in action at the River Landing Intercollegiate, April 11-12, in Wallace, North Carolina.
