Tulsa women finish strong, place third in Columbia Classic
MELBOURNE, Fla. –– The Tulsa women’s golf team finished in third place at the Columbia Classic Monday afternoon with a 36-hole score of 4-over par 588 at the par-72 Duran Golf Club. The Hurricane had four golfers finish among the top-15 individually.
Tulsa carded a final round 2-under par 286 and finished behind team medalist Texas Tech and second-place Princeton. The third-place performance marked the fourth top-3 finish in six tournaments this season for the Hurricane.
The tournament was relegated to 36 holes after Sunday’s second round was canceled due to high winds on the course.
Sophomore Sydney Seigel finished with a career-best sixth place finished at even-par 144 after turning in back-to-back rounds of 72. Senior Lilly Thomas and freshman Grace Kilcrease tied for 10th place at 145 for the 36 holes. Thomas had a 1-under 71 Monday, while Kilcrease carded a final round 1-over par 73.
Freshman Jenni Roller turned in the best round of the day for the Hurricane, carding a 2-under par 70 for a two-round total of 2-over par 146 for her best collegiate performance of 14th place
Sophomore Lovisa Gunnar, playing as an individual, placed 23rd overall with a total score of 149, while freshman Emily Boehrer finished in 45th place a score of 154
Tulsa will be in action next at the ICON Invitational, Feb. 27-28, in Houston, Texas.
