SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (April 13) – Susana Olivares used a back-nine charge to fire a closing 2-over-par 74 in leading Central Oklahoma to a tie for third place in the Central Regional Invitational that wrapped up Tuesday.
The Bronchos closed with a 315 to finish two trips around the 6,009-yard, par-72 Twin Oaks Country Club with a 622 total. Arkansas Tech won the 16-team tournament at 604, 13 strokes ahead of Henderson State, while UCO, Northeastern State and Southwestern Oklahoma tied for third.
It’s the 13th straight top-five finish dating back to the fall of 2019 for the Bronchos.
Olivares shot 33 on the back nine in closing with the 74 that tied for the tournament’s second-best score of the day. Emma Shelley shot 79, while Sydney Roberts and Madison O’Dell both had 81s and Emily Miller an 85.
“We got off to a slow start and never really got anything going,” head coach Michael Bond said. “Susana played great today, especially on the back nine, but overall we just didn’t do enough to make up any ground.”
Northeastern State was led by Nina Lee, who closed with a 74 to finish second individually at 6-over 150. Kaylee Peterson tied for 13th at 155 (74-81), while Aitana Hernandez was three shots back at 158 (81-77) Yasmin Hang tied for 45th at 161 (81-80).
Mikaela Rindermann led Southwest Oklahoma State with a tie for 10th at 154 (79-75). Rebecca Lau tied for 13th at 155 (77-78). Also counting were Megan Brown, tied for 20th at 156 (76-80), and Georgia Miller, tied for 24th at 157 (77-80).
