Whitting takes third for RSU in Battle at Hilton Head

HILTON HEAD, S.C.Jess Whitting earned a third-place finish to lead the Rogers State women’s golf team at the 2019 Battle at Hilton Head Island.

Whitting led the Hillcats on both days of the tournament in Hilton Head, South Carolina. The Perth, Australia native managed to best her day one score of a 2-over-par 74 with a final day 73. The sophomore finished the day with five birdies and just four holes over par. She had a stretch of eight holes with par or better scores.

Whitting finished third for the tournament two strokes behind the individual winner, Lucy Eaton from Florida Tech.

The team finished 62-over-par and in seventh place. Jessica Green shot 81-80 for a 161. Raquel Flores and Sydney Murray both shot rounds of 83 in the final round, Flores finished at 164 and Murray 166.

RSU  tees off next in the Fujikura Invitational at Shadow Ridge Country Club in Vista, California beginning on March 11.
