Oklahoma State graduate Hayden Wood of Edmond added another well-known local name to the field for Compliance Solutions Championship by winning a Monday qualifier at The Territory Golf Club in Duncan.

Wood shot a 6-under 66. Also qualifying for the Korn Ferry Tour event which begins Thursday at Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club were Chad Sewell of Conroe, David Lee of Dallas and Phllip Barbaree of Shreveport, La. Among those narrowly missing was former Sooner Blaine Hale(68) and current Sooner Jaxon Dowell (69).

Among the four to qualify at Lincoln Park West was Matthew Braley of Broken Arrow, a Cascia Hall graduate who played collegiate golf at Grand Canyon. Braley shot 7-under and survived a four-man playoff for the final two spots that also included former Sooner Thomas Johnson, who grew up playing Jimmie Austin where his father Johnny Johnson is a long-time pro.

Sponsor exemptions for the event also increased the local presence. They were given to former Oral Roberts golfer Brandon Hoff, former OSU golfer Brendon Jelley of Jenks, former University of Tulsa golfer Logan McCracken of Oklahoma City and former Sooner Charlie Saxon of Tulsa.

Saxon boosts the home town Sooner presence to eight golfers. The eight Sooners – Quade Cummins, Martin Flores, Michael Gellerman, Chris Gotterup, Grant Hirschman, Logan McAllister, Charlie Saxon and Patrick Welch – have either full or conditional status on the Korn Ferry Tour, the top developmental tour of the PGA TOUR.

“We can’t wait to welcome all of these guys back to Norman this week,” OU head coach Ryan Hybl said. “The opportunity for our home golf course and the city of Norman to host a professional golf tournament is extraordinary and for our guys to play at a course they know is an exciting opportunity. I hope that Sooner Nation comes out to support our guys and watch some really high-level golf.”

With Wood, there are six former OSU players in the field, including Kevin Dougherty, Kris Ventura, Zach Bauchou, Bo Van Pelt and Jelley.

Other players with Oklahoma ties include Oak Tree National members Josh Creel and Rhein Gibson in addition to Braley and Hoff.
