Wood, Stars both claim second place in NAIA National Championship

Paige Wood fired a final-round 6-under 66 – the best round of any competitor in the tournament – as Oklahoma City University put together by far its best round in the NAIA National Championship at TPC at Deere Run in Silvas, Il.

With Maddi Kamas also contributing an even-par 72, the Stars shot a 4-over 292. It wasn’t enough to reel in Keiser University, which also saved its best for last and shot 290 to win by 16 shots. Keiser was led by individual champion Hoi Ki Lau, who shot her second consecutive 1-under 71 to finish at 1-over 289, two shots ahead of Wood.

Kamas concluded her standout career at OCU with an eight-place finish at 301. Logan Allen shot 75 and tied for 17th. Jamie Welsh shot 79 and tied for 30th while Aubrey House shot 81 and tied for 65th.

Wood made seven birdies and one bogey in shooting 33 on each nine.

Ponca City native Sydney Hermann of Dalton State also concluded an outstanding career with a 1-under 71 to finish tied for sixth at 300.
