Former Oklahoma Sooner Abraham Ancer had a long birdie putt to tie Webb Simpson on the final hole of the RBC Heritage at Hilton Head Sunday. His second-place finish capped another impressive week of players with Oklahoma ties competing on both the PGA Tour and the Korn Ferry Tour.

Also at Hilton Head, former Oklahoma State stars Viktor Hovland and Alex Noren tied for 21st at 14-under and OSU ex Wyndham Clark tied for 64th. Not making the cut were former Cowboys Rickie Fowler, Matthew Wolff, Kevin Tway (hometown Edmond), Talor Gooch (Midwest City) and Bo Van Pelt (Tulsa).

On the Korn Ferry Tour, an additional nine players either from the state or who played collegiate golf here were in the field at the King & Bear Classic at Wold Golf Village. Former Sooner Grant Hirschman led the way, finishing tied for 16th at 19-under. Oak Tree National member Josh Creel was a shot back at 18-under and tied for 21st. Former Cowboy Peter Uihlein tied for 32nd at 16 under, a shot ahead of Robert Streb (Edmond North grad) and two ahead of former Cowboy Kristoffer Ventura. Also making the cut was OSU ex Jordan Niebrugge at 11-under and Anders Albertson, whose father is a Tulsa businessman, at 9-under.

Missing the cut were Charlie Saxon (OU and Tulsa native) and Taylor Moore (Edmond and the University of Arkansas).

Most of those 17 pros with Sooner state ties will be back in action this week at The Travelers on the PGA Tour or the Utah Champonship on the Korn Ferry Tour.
