Battle Creek All Stars heading to PGA Jr. League national championship

The Battle Creek 13u All-Stars of Battle Creek, Oklahoma, won the National Car Rental PGA Jr. League Regional at The Club at Old Hawthorne in Columbia this weekend to secure their spot in the National Car Rental PGA Jr. League Championship at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz., Oct. 7-10. The Championship will be broadcast live on select ESPN networks for the first time this year.

For the 13u players, day one (Saturday) of the Regional consisted of an 18-hole aggregate stroke play scramble competition, counting the top three of four scores. Battle Creek shot an aggregate total of 192 on the first day of competition, followed by the Kansas-based Mission Hills All-Stars with a 208. The two faced off in match play on Sunday for the title. Using PGA Jr. League 9-hole, two-person scramble match play format on Sunday, Battle Creek won with 11.5 to 0.5 over the Mission Hills All-Stars.

In the 17-and-under division, the team from Battle Creek placed third.
