SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – For the second consecutive month, Oral Roberts’ Sarah Bell earned TicketSmarter #SummitGF Golfer of the Month accolades.

This time Bell was recognized with Carson Griggs of Sand Springs as both players turned in spectacular performances in October.

For Bell, her lone event during the month was a record-breaking one in several different categories as she coasted to medalist honors, posting a seven-stroke victory at the Ozarks National Invitational.

The junior from Jackson, Mo., won the tournament with a program record 54-hole score of 202 (-14) as ORU won the team competition by 11 strokes and finished a 54-hole event under par as a team for the first time in program history. Bell finished with 18 birdies of her own.

Bell closed the tournament with a 65 (-7), tying her own single-round program record that she set in September in the final round at the Johnie Imes Invitational. She shot in the 60’s in each of the three rounds after opening with a 69 (-3) and shooting 68 (-4) in the second round.

Griggs blistered the Ka’anapali Golf Course, finishing runner-up at the Ka’anapali Classic Collegiate with a 198 (-15) total over 54 holes. The Sand Springs, Okla., native became just the fourth Pioneer to break 200 in a three-round event, posting the third-lowest score in program history.

After opening with a 68 (-3), Griggs tied DU’s single-round scoring record with a bogey-free 62 (-9) that featured seven birdies and an eagle. He capped the tournament with another 68 (-3) to finish one stroke off the pace set by Loyola Maryland’s Brandon Berry. Griggs finished the event with 18 birdies and was nine-under on the Par 5’s.

Griggs opened the month with a top-30 finish at the Paintbrush Invitational and finished October with the best stroke average among Summit League golfers at 70.8.
