Blonien, Darr, Hermann, Colby reach WOGA State Amateur semifinals

University of Arkansas golfer Natalie Blonien of Altus and Oklahoma State’s Lucy Darr of Stillwater rolled toward a final showdown Tuesday in the first two rounds of the Women’s Oklahoma Golf Association State Amateur Championship at Oakwood Country Club in Enid.

Standing between the clash of the two favorites will be semifinal opponents Sydney Hermann of Ponca City, the 2023 champion, and Meredith Colby of Edmond, a rising junior at Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Mo. and a former two-time all conference player at Edmond Memorial.

Blonien steamed past Layne Ailshie of Fort Gibson 7 and 6 and took out Juliana Hong of Norman 6 and 4 in the first two rounds Tuesday. Darr waltzed past Erica Bryton Burkhalter of Edmond 7 and 6 and then Abbie Justiz of Arcadia 4 and 3.

Blonien will take on Colby in the semifinals Wednesday. Colby got past Gray Gerloff of Tulsa 2 and 1 and Peyton Coburn of Tulsa 3 and 2.

Hermann, who has concluded her collegiate golf at NAIA power Dalton State and is now a graduate assistant coach at Cumberland University, showed she is still playing at a high level with her first-round 4 and 2 victory over 13-year-old Bixby sensation Dia Singh, who recently won the OGA Girls Junior Stroke Play and Match Play titles in impressive fashion. Hermann then edged Maggie Ruby of Stillwater 1 up in the quarterfinals to set up the semifinal clash with Darr.
