Bond, Schartz prevail by single shot in Beast of the East Classic at Lincoln Park

Collin Bond of Norman shot rounds of 65-66 on the par-70 Lincoln Park East Golf Course over the weekend to come in at 9-under 131 and edge 15-year-old Emerson Majma of Edmond by a single shot in the Beast of the East Classic on the Oklahoma Junior Golf Tour.

Bond, an Oklahoma State commit, came from three shots off the pace after Majma opened with an 8-under 62. Majma closed with an even-par 70. Sam Morris of Tulsa shot 65-68 to finish another shot back in third place at 7-under, while Samuel Bonaobra of Broken Arrow (69-65) and Logan Mayo of Springdale, Ark., (68-66) dtied for fourth at 6-under.

Avery Schartz of Wichita opened with a 7-under 63 and added a 72 to finish at 5-under, one shot better than Alllie Justiz of Arcadia (67-69) in the girls division.

Josey Cavitt of Burneyville (71-72) and McKenna Tatum of Edmond (75-68) tied for third at 143, followed by Jaci Hartman of Burneyville (70-74).
