Brewer is medalist, lifts USAO men to second at Bates Shaw Memorial

WICHITA Kan. – Jaxen Brewer brought home the individual title, lifting the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma men’s golf team to second place at the Bates Shaw Memorial Crestview Invitational, hosted by Friends University concluding Tuesday at Crestview Country Club in Wichita.

The Drovers shot a three-round score of 898 (293, 296, 289) to finish in second place. Park University came in first 15 shots ahead at 883. USAO took second, followed by Hastings College (304-301-306-911) and Midland University (301-301-313-915). The course featured a 6959-yard, par 72 layout.

Brewer’s individual championship is the seventh such performance in program history, following the likes of Caleb Smith (2x), Gage Gibson (2x), Grant Murphey (1x), Caleb Nichols (1x). In the first round, Brewer fired the best round of the tournament with a 6-under 66,  followed by rounds of 73 and 74 in the final two rounds for a final score of 213 (-3).

Conner Cryer and Jaeden Ellis closely followed with third and fourth place finished with total scores of 216 (69-75-72) and 217 (73-75-69), respectively. Cooper Hardison also finished in the top 10 with a score of 223 (74-77-72) for a ninth-place finish.

Tate Trotter concluded in 13th place as he carded a 225 (69-76-80), followed by Tucker McDonald in 22ndwith a total of 230 (76-78-76). Luca Gisler closed in 29th with a 234, and Luke O’Dell finished in 37th with a 236. Caleb Smith carded a 242 and finished in 50th.

The Drovers will return to action on Monday, October second as they host the third annual Battle at Winter Creek at Winter Creek Golf and Country Club in Blanchard, Okla.
