Burrows pushes ORU into second in Memphis Intercollegiate

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – A first round 285 gave the Oral Roberts the overall lead in the first tournament of the year and the Golden Eagles followed it up with a 292 to finish day one of the Memphis Intercollegiate in second place. Chattanooga leads the way at 571 (286-285), while ORU is at 577 (285-292).
ORU was led in the opening round by Cody Burrows, who shot a -4, 68. His round included six birdies, and played the back nine to a -3, 33. Burrows also finished his second round under par and is third overall entering the final round.
Five of the six ORU golfers competing are in the top 25 after the first two rounds, including Burrows (third),Hunter Laughlin (11th) and Dustin Hasley (T-12th) who are all inside the top 15.
Only twice last year did the Golden Eagles shoot better rounds than the first round 285, one of which was on a par 71 course. ORU shot 281 at the Prices Give ‘Em Five (Par 71) and 280 at the Bubba Barnett Intercollegiate (Par 72).
