Cameron leads, OC Eagles in fourth at St. Edward’s Invitational
AUSTIN, Texas (March 26. 2018) – Oklahoma Christian junior Juan Pallach and the Eagles both put themselves in contention Monday on the first day of the St. Edward’s Invitational at Onion Creek Club.
Pallach, from Mexico City, shot rounds of even-par 70 and 71 on the 6,530-yard course and his 141 total put him in a four-way tie for second in the 72-man field, two shots behind the leader, Hudson Ross of St. Edward’s. Pallach is seeking what would be his first collegiate golf title.
As a team, OC posted scores of 291 and 295 to finish the day at 586, putting the Eagles in fourth place in the 12-team tournament behind Cameron (577), St. Edward’s (578) and Western New Mexico (580) entering Tuesday’s final round.
OC junior Ethan Smith led the Eagles in birdies Monday with five and was tied for 12th at 145 after shooting rounds of 72 and 73. Fellow junior Garrett White (74-76) was tied for 32nd at 150, with Cameron Brown (75-76) another shot back at 151, tied for 37th. Freshman Andres Brictson (77-75) was tied for 45th at 152.
Two Eagles are playing the tournament as individuals – junior Grady Neal and freshman Jackson Phillips. Neal (80-74) was tied for 50th at 154, while Phillips (85-75) was 70th at 160.
