College roundup: OSU close in Heroes; TU, Tseng lead at Texas State Invite; ORU takes ninth in Utah

SARASOTA, Fla. – Strong performances by Maja Stark and Maddison Hinson-Tolchard have the Oklahoma State women’s golf team within striking distance of first place with 18 holes left to play in the Heroes Ladies Intercollegiate.

Stark remains in first place on the individual leaderboard shooting 6-under 66 on the day, two strokes ahead of Charley Jacobs of Iowa State. She shot 14 birdies in the first two rounds, most in the tournament.

The Cowgirls shot 9-under 279 on the day, keeping them just four strokes shy of first place.

A strong performance in the second round by Hinson-Tolchard propelled her into a tie for 10th place. She shot 2-under 70 on the day including four birdies. Bailey remains on par and in a tie for 13th, shooting 2- under 70 on the day.

Hailey Jones and Han-Hsuan Yu shot 1-over and 4-over respectively putting them in ties for 37th and 45th place.

Play will resume Tuesday morning at 8am with the remaining 18 holes. Live scoring is here.

Tseng, TU lead at Texas State Invitational

KYLE, Texas –– Lorena Tseng and the Tulsa women’s golf team sit in first place at the Texas State Invitational after Monday’s play at the par-72 Plum Creek Golf Course.

Second round play was halted at 6 p.m. due to darkness, Tulsa’s total score of 12-under par is five strokes ahead of second-place Sam Houston State (-7). The Hurricane scored a first round 7-under par score of 282 and after 11 holes is 6-under par for the second round.

Tseng led the way with a 7-under par score of 65 in round one and after 11 holes in the second round sits at 11-under par for the tournament. She is tied for medalist honors with Sam Houston State’s Hanna Alberto.

Tseng is joined among the top-5 by teammates Haley Greb and Lilly Thomas.

Greb shot a first round 5-under par score of 67 and sits even in round 2 after 11 holes for third place with a 5-under par score. Thomas shot a first round 74 and is 3-under par after second round play was stopped. She ended the day in fourth place overall at 1-under par.

Senior Taylor Dobson is +5 for 39th place and freshman Tita Loudtragulngam is in 55th place heading into Tuesday.

Oral Roberts finishes ninth in Thunderbird Invitational

ST. GEORGE, Utah – The Oral Roberts men’s golf finished the SUU Pizza Hut-Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invitational in ninth Monday afternoon in St. George, Utah.

The Golden Eagles tied their best round of the weekend with a 289 in round three. Rocco Repetto-Taylor shot two-under par (70) in round three and shot the best round of all Golden Eagles in the tournament. Mike Biata shot even par (72) in round three and led ORU in the tournament with a score of 217. Biata also led the Summit League pack in the event.

Utah finished in first at the event with an 823 total score (-41).
