Cowboy Golf opens fall season at Sahalee
STILLWATER, Okla. – Oklahoma State’s men’s golf team will get its fall slate underway on Saturday when it begins play at the Sahalee Players Championship, which will be contested at Sahalee Country Club.
The Cowboys will be one of 12 teams in action at the famed layout. The event will consist of 54 holes with 36 being played on Saturday and 18 on Sunday. The individual medalist will receive a sponsor’s exemption to compete at the PGA Tour’s Fortinet Championship at Silverado Resort in Napa, California later this month.
OSU’s lineup will be led by Jonas Baumgartner, who is coming off a junior campaign that saw him garner All-America status. Fifth year Hazen Newman will be in the lineup as well for head coach Alan Bratton‘s squad.
A trio of freshmen will make their Cowboy debuts as well with Johnnie Clark, a native of Mesa, Arizona, Gaven Lane, an Argyle, Texas product, and Richardson, Texas native Preston Stout rounding out the starting five.
Fifth year Rayhan Thomas will compete individually.
The Cowboys will get their first round underway at 7:45 a.m. (PST) and will be grouped with Washington and Illinois.
