Cowboys take fourth at ASU Thunderbird Collegiate

PHOENIX — Oklahoma State’s men’s golf team closed with a 1-over 285 on Saturday at the ASU Thunderbird Collegiate to finish in a tie for fourth place at Papago Golf Course.

The top-ranked Cowboys finished with a 54-hole total of 850, 2-under par, tying them with Arizona State’s “B” team at the par-71, 7,333-yard layout.

Tournament host Arizona State closed with a 277 to finish at 20-under 832 and 12 shots ahead of Texas and its 844 score. UCLA was third at 845.

ASU’s Chun An Yu signed for a 68 on Saturday to finish at 201 and earn medalist honors.

Sophomore Matthew Wolff closed with a 74 to finish at 211 and tied for 11th, leading the way for the OSU starting five.

Freshman Aman Gupta carded his second consecutive 72 to finish at 214 and tied for 24th place.

Also among the group at 214 was senior Hayden Wood, who carded the squad’s round of the day, finishing with a 69 to move up the leaderboard.

Senior Zach Bauchou posted a closing 74 to come in tied for 37th place at 217.

Sophomore Austin Eckroat carded his low round of the event, a 70, to finish at 221.

A pair of Cowboys competed individually, with freshman Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen firing a closing 68 to move into a tie for 11th at 211 and junior Ferdinand Müller tying for 51st place at 221 after signing for a 73.

OSU will be back in action on April 26 when it begins play at the Big 12 Championship.
