Cowgirls fourth after round one at Bruin Wave Invitational

AN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – The Oklahoma State women’s golf team continued their solid play from last weekend in New Orleans, and find themselves in fourth place after 36 holes at the Bruin Wave Invitational.
The Cowgirls showed once again they can hang with the best, competing with five top 15 teams over a 36-hole first day.
Linnea Johannson led the way for the Cowgirls, shooting an opening round 1-under 71 and followed it up with an even par 72 to end the day tied for fifth at 1-under.
The redshirt junior ended the day with eight birdies, tied for second most in the field.
Hosts UCLA are the clubhouse leader after the first two rounds after an even par day, leading second place Arizona State by 10 strokes.
Lilia Vu of UCLA is the individual leader following rounds of 69 and 72 to put her a 3-under.
Maddie McCrary is tied for 13th and 2-over following rounds of 75 and 71.
Freshman Chih-Min Chen finishes the day tied for 20th at 4-over after rounds of 73 and 76.
In her first event of the spring season, Emma Broze finished the day tied for 36th at 10-over. The France native is competing for the first time since October and shot rounds of 78 and 76.
Kenzie Neisen sits tied for 46th after shooting rounds of 81 and 75.
The final round of the Bruin Wave Invitational begins tomorrow with a 7:30 a.m. shotgun start.
