Members of Hillcrest Country Club in Bartlesville are planning a fitting tribute to its famed 41-year head golf professional, Jerry Cozby, with the building of a new learning center that will be named in his honor. Several members leading the effort are welcoming donations from fellow members and from the many golfers throughout the area and industry that Cozby touched and befriended in his long career.

Cozby, a member of the PGA of America Hall of Fame and Oklahoma Golf Hall of Fame, among numerous other industry honors, passed away Aug. 23 at the age of 79. He had a passion for teaching and loved working with golfers of all ages to improve their enjoyment of the game.

The indoor teaching center will be located behind the ninth green on the practice facility. It will have at least two indoor teaching bays outfitted with the latest in launch monitors, swing analysis technology and club fitting equipment.

The members are currently raising at least $200,000 in private donations and have various levels named after crucial chapters in Cozby’s career. All donations are welcome and can be made by contacting Jim Curd at 918-397-3092 or jcurdjr@aol.com.

All donors will be recognized on a plaque at the Jerry Cozby Learning Center.

The donation levels are:

Breckenridge, Texas Sponsor (Birthplace 1941)  $25,000 – $50,000

Odessa, Texas Sponsor (High School and Odessa Junior College – won two national junior college championships while attending Odessa Junior College)   $10,000 – $25,000
